About GT Small Engines
Our Story
GT Small Engines, LLC is owned and operated by Gabe Flynn and Tracy Whitley, a husband-and-wife team based in Morganton, North Carolina. Both Gabe and Tracy grew up in Burke County. Although they both graduated from Freedom High School in 2000, they didn’t meet until years later.
Gabe began working on engines at just 15 years old, developing the hands-on skills he still uses today. In 2005, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served until 2011. After leaving the Air Force, Gabe worked in several other roles before returning to Morganton in 2017. Over the years, he often helped friends and neighbors with small engine repairs, and as more and more people began asking for help, friends started encouraging him to turn it into a business.
After Gabe and Tracy were married in 2024, they decided to do just that. GT Small Engines, LLC officially launched in April 2025 as a side business focused on helping people in the community with honest, reliable repair work.
Gabe handles all of the repair work while also working full time in cybersecurity. In December 2025, he completed his Doctorate in Information Technology. Tracy manages the behind-the-scenes side of the business, including record keeping, maintaining the website, and managing the business Facebook page.
When not working, Gabe and Tracy enjoy spending time with their family, playing with their younger niece, and cheering on their oldest niece at her softball games.
